Smiley face on sky

Very early on the morning of April 25, 2025 sky gazers around the world were treated to an unexpected and sweet heavenly sight: a cosmic “smiley face” formed by the conjunction of Venus, Saturn, and a thin crescent moon. This triple conjunction had formed a bright triangular shape near the eastern horizon, and Venus and Saturn glinting as the “eyes,” with the crescent moon adding the “smile” below them.

Such celestial alignments do not occur frequently and provide a lighthearted reminder of the universe’s playful grace. The next comparable triple conjunction will not grace our skies until February 13, 2056 making the 2025 event a once in a lifetime event for most.
