Are there junk present even in space, just like there is inside the Earth?

“Are there junks present even in the space just like there’re inside the Earth?” Unfortunately, the answer to this question is “Yes”.

These space junks have been termed as space debris which basically refers to both natural & defunct man-made objects in space that no longer contribute to any useful purpose. These include defunct payloads, asteroids etc.

Currently, the closest orbit to Earth, LEO, considered as orbital space junk yard is 85% polluted by around 34,000 man-made orbital debris larger than 10 cm each, weighing about 6,000 tons in total. While, nemorous natural debris can be found throughout the solar system.

Most of the space debris are moving at a velocity reaching speeds of 18,000 miles per hour which is almost seven times faster than a bullet. Due to the high rate of speed & huge volume of debris, LEO has developed into an orbital graveyard leading to safety risk for property in space. So, space debris management is necessary to avert such a risk.
