Twin Meteor Shower: Delta Aquariids

Poster Design: Anik Ayan [CE2425-C1]

This summer, the cosmos treats us to a spectacular double feature! Two breathtaking meteor showers will graze the skies on late July and early August. First up is the Delta Aquariids, peaking on July 28-30, offering 10-20 meteors per hour. These celestial streaks come from Comet 96P/Machholz, which leaves behind dusty debris that burns up in our atmosphere. Then comes the main event – the Perseid, peaking on August 11-13 with a dazzling 50-100 meteors per hour! These brighter, faster meteors originate from Comet Swift-Tuttle, a massive 16-mile-wide comet that leaves an especially dense trail of cosmic crumbs in its wake. Don’t miss this rare cosmic twin light show – Earth’s way of saying hello to ancient comet dust!
